Sunday, September 11, 2011, in the village of Vischongo, in the Andean region of Ayacucho (Peru-central), it is the VI Vischongo Ecomarathon, a test skyrunning, where about sixty athletes braved the prohibitive altitudes of between 3,150 and 4,200 meters above sea level, dominated by Puya raimondii Harms.
The race, over distances of 7:21 Km, was organized by Erci Team Italy Onlus, Peruresponsabile.it and by the sports Peruvian Aire Puro and is part of a series of events, aimed at the promotion of the Area of Conservation Regional " forest of Puya Raimondi - Titankayocc "and the stimulation of the sport and of sustainable activities in rural areas, landscape and environmental value.
The Vischongo Ecomarathon, in addition to being officially recognized by the Peruvian Federation of Athletics, boasts the official recognition of the IFS and, as only race recognized in Peru, you bearer of the sky running in the Andean country. The event was given the patronage of numerous national and international organizations and institutions among which are the Italian Institute of Culture in Lima and the National Park of Abruzzo; The event is also linked to the initiatives of the revelation to the world of 100 years of Machu Picchu in Peru organized by the Embassy of Italy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.
Of emphasis it has been the participation of athletes of high ranking, as Remigo Huamán Quispe and Olinda Canchanya Canchanya, winners of 21 Km in their respective categories, with the times of 1h 48 '27 "and 2h 25' 35", as well as that of Emerson Robert Trujillo Flores (1h 51 '58 ") and Aydee Soto Quispe (2h 33' 46"), came second.
It is also to highlight the excellent performance of two young amateur athletes, belonging to Andean communities theater event, Juan Feliz Chuchón Medina (1h 51 '36 ") and Idman Bellido Ayala (1h 55' 02"), having reached the third and fourth.
Before departure it is observed a minute of silence in memory of Mario De Col Martelli, who was a tireless promoter of biodiversity conservation in Peru and that, in its community Vischongo, developed a project for the protection of the Puya Raimondi.
The appointment is for the seventh edition of August 29, 2012, for the first mountain marathon certified.
